Restek’s Performance Coatings “RPC” Division Becomes SilcoTek™Corp.

Founder Paul Silvis leads new, independent company in focus on coatings business.

On January 1, 2009, the Restek Performance Coatings Division became SilcoTek™ Corporation, an independent company led by Restek Founder Paul Silvis and members of the Performance Coatings team. The new company will focus on developing new coating technologies for the passivation, anticoking, automotive, and ultrahigh vacuum markets.

“The creation of SilcoTek as an independent company enables us to focus exclusively on the development of new coatings to enhance material properties, which will provide significant benefits to our customers,” Silvis said. “We will continue to focus on meeting and exceeding all of our customers’ expectations with our new “Zip Code” program of Zero-disappointments, Integrity, and Plus 1 customer service.”

The creation of independent SilcoTek Corporation was part of Restek Corporation’s January 1 transition to 100 percent employee ownership under an ESOP structure. That move, which had been a part of the company’s corporate planning since its inception in 1985 and is being implemented under the leadership of Restek Head Coach Don McCandless, was designed to ensure Restek’s stability and continued growth while maintaining its status as an independent chromatography consumables manufacturer.

SilcoTek will remain a key supplier to Restek, and Restek in turn will continue to offer Siltek, Sulfinert, and Silcosteel coated products for chromatography markets, said Silvis, who will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Restek.
