SilcoTek® direct line partner O'Brien Analytical recently studied permeation effects on sample reliability of heat trace tubing. The study quantified the permeation rate of CO through fluoropolymer (PTFE) heat trace tubing. The study found a dramatic increase in permeation rate when tubing temperature exceeded 300F. The study also noted permeation decreased over time; requiring significant burn-in to control permeation rate.
