Dursan® Coating

An Inert and Corrosion Resistant High Performance CVD Coating

What is Dursan®?

Dursan® is an NSF certified and FDA compliant coating process that improves the inertness, durability, anti-fouling, and corrosion resistant properties of products ranging from precision instrumentation to industrial tooling. These coatings are made of amorphous silicon oxide (a-SiO) and specially functionalized to achieve industry-leading chemical inertness and non-stick properties. Dursan coatings are SilcoTek's most versatile, providing game-changing surface properties in ultra-sensitive applications like liquid chromatography, as well as long-lasting performance in harsh conditions that are often found in a variety of chemical process environments. Dursan has also been validated in many life sciences applications, from analyzers used to test human samples in hospitals to food processing equipment for preventing the spread of bacteria.

How is Dursan Applied to Your Parts?

Like all SilcoTek coatings, Dursan surfaces are applied using SilcoTek’s proprietary chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology. Unlike typical liquid spray or dip coating methods, CVD is a completely non-line-of-sight process that uses gases at high temperatures to produce ultra-thin coatings which bond molecularly to the part substrate, creating superior adhesion compared to any other coating. This also means that even sub-micron sized openings, sharp edges, flexible components like bellows, and high aspect ratio flow paths are completely coated without requiring design changes.
