A recent study by Timothy Davidson, et al, (BP West Coast Products, Carson, CA) and Andrew Pierce (Mangan, Inc, Long Beach, CA) compared low pressure sampling performance of 5 flare analyzer systems.
The report demonstrates the need for SilcoNert® 2000 coated sample flow paths to assure consistent measurement of sulfur and sulfur species in demanding and highly variable flare gas environments.  SilcoNert 2000 has been proven to be effective in preventing sulfur adsorption in refining processes such as:

  • Distillation
  • Cracking
  • Reforming
  • Hydro treating
  • Alkylation
  • Hydrogen production

The study went on to state:

"results show the analyzer systems meet the regulator requirements.  The data shows the importance of stable instrumentation, heated sample system and Sulfinert (SilcoNert 2000) coated sample lines for all tubing in contact with sulfur compounds that are connected for sulfur analysis."
