Please identify all critical surface finishes and sealing surfaces on components being sent for coating. Either mark sensitive areas with tape or note in accompanying drawings.
Please notify SilcoTek of any surface oils, greases, process fluids, contaminants or other chemicals existing on or inside parts to be coated by SilcoTek.
Fluorinated lubricants, like Krytox®, can potentially interfere with the coating process, resulting in poor coating deposition. Notify SilcoTek of part exposure to or use of fluorinated lubricants.
Failure to notify SilcoTek of fluorinated lubricant exposure may result in poor coating quality and additional service charges relating to additional surface cleaning and surface preparation cost relating to fluorinated lubricant removal from part surfaces.
SilcoTek cannot accept/process parts containing hazardous chemicals or parts that are contaminated with hazardous chemicals. Parts must be free of hazardous materials prior to shipment to SilcoTek for coating services.
Paint or other surface coatings must be removed from part surfaces prior to shipment to SilcoTek for coating.
Please be sure to check internal cavities for pressed-in or other seals. Remove all internal and external seals before coating.
To assure a quality coated surface, it is important that all pipe threads be free of PTFE (Teflon®) tape. Assembled pipe threads cannot be processed. The heat of the reaction will cause threads to gall, resulting in damaged parts.
All stickers, paints, PTFE tape, etc. must be removed from cylinders and threads prior to sending to SilcoTek. Cylinders must also be free of Teflon® or other coatings. These materials will be vaporized in the 450° C CVD process and contaminate the batch. Be sure to completely disassemble all sampling devices and sample cylinders prior to shipment to SilcoTek for coating services.
SilcoTek will coat all stainless steel wetted surfaces of your disassembled valve. Please be sure to completely disassemble the valve and be sure to remove all seats or o-rings before shipping your parts to us.
Heat during processing may cause internal stress/imperfections in glass to fail. SilcoTek is not responsible for heat related damage/chipping or breakage of glass products resulting from heating of customer supplied glass items.
Tube sections sent for coating with pre-seated ferrules increase the likelihood for leaks. Please send tubing sections without nuts and ferrules pre-set.
Coiled tubing is processed internally only, and requires the attachment of process leads to each end using standard tube fittings, nuts and ferrules to attain a gas-tight seal. Allow an extra six inches of tubing on both ends to be use and remove during processing. Tubing ends will be cut with a standard tubing cutter after processing and capped for return shipment
Coiled tubing that is processed internally will be returned to you with the outside of the tubing appearing brown. This change in color is due to the processing and is oxidation of the exterior caused by exposure to high temperatures.
Please send tubing on a metal spool or bound coil. Wooden spools cannot be placed into the processing ovens.
While we have coated aluminum substrates upon customer requests, this product is unqualified and has not been characterized. The appearance of our coatings on Aluminum substrates is significantly different than on stainless steel substrates. The large variations in appearance uniformity and possible porosity are outside the specifications of a quality coating on a stainless steel substrate. The porous and uneven coating may not be inert or as corrosion resistant to the standards we publish for our coatings on stainless steel substrates. Additionally, the coating process may compromise dimensional tolerances and structural integrity of aluminum substrates.
Customers requesting coating services for aluminum substrates should consider potential finished product appearance issues, degraded coating performance, changes in dimensional tolerances and reduced structural integrity before electing to coat aluminum surfaces. SilcoTek is not responsible for degraded part or coating performance issues associated with aluminum substrates
Please be sure to package heavy parts properly to avoid any part-to-part contact that may result in damage to parts during transportation. Packaging peanuts and bubble wrap may not be sufficient to protect your parts.
Please inform us of any special handling, packaging or shipping requirements.
