PTFE has its benefits, but dig deeper and you'll find many issues, especially at high temperatures often found in chemical process, stack gas sampling, and refining.

SilcoTek vs. PTFE SilcoTek's proprietary coatings SilcoNert® 2000 and Dursan® offer an extremely inert surface to sulfurs, mercury, and ammonia, making them the primary choice for sampling applications in the petrochemical, refining, analytical chemistry and process analyzer markets. Often times these environments are exposed to extreme heat with temperatures exceeding 250° C. PTFE degrades and fails in these scenarios while SilcoNert and Dursan stay fully intact, keeping the surface inert and durable.
