FISHING is an acronym used here at SilcoTek® to represent our core values. This week, we wanted to talk about the second "I", which stands for "in the light." In the Light defines our transparent and collaborative culture with both customers and employees. We partner closely with customers to solve their most complex challenges with materials and chemistry. This process is accelerated by openly sharing our expertise and the details of our coating processes. Internally, SilcoTek proactively shares financial information and business strategies with all employees to gain a wider perspective and foster a sense of ownership within each team member. In the Light establishes a foundation of integrity in all our actions.

These 7 letters help us remember why and how we do what we do. This philosophy is tried and true and it will continue to pave the way for SilcoTek employees to keep making the world a better place through our coatings. Transparency 

According to Geoff White, SilcoTek's General Counsel and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, "being 'in the light' allows SilcoTek to foster innovation in a broad international eco-system."  In our opinion, the In the Light mentality goes hand-in-hand with honesty. Not only do we share expertise with our customers, but we are also transparent about expenditures, company financials, research and development progress, manufacturing processes, among others. We like to foster an environment where nothing comes as a surprise for employees or customers. The old adage, "what you see is what you get" rings true here. We think that this ideology promotes confidence and trust to know that we do what we say we're going to do. 

Not every company believes in open communication and transparency. Though we are deeply committed to protecting our intellectual property and that of our customers, we pride ourselves on sharing the information that customers need to make good decisions about their products and coating needs. We never “just try to make a sale.” If we don't think your application will be suitable for our process, we will be honest with you. That said, our dedicated support teams of applications experts, scientists, engineers, coating technicians, and customer success representatives go above and beyond every day to push the limit and “make the impossible possible” for each customer. Together, we advance knowledge and technological capabilities to create a better world for everyone to live in.
