Best Practices for Quoting SilcoTek® Coatings

Before sending a request for a quote to SilcoTek, we have a few pointers to make the ordering process as easy as possible. Our dedicated quotes team members are easy to work with and knowledgeable about the coatings we offer. The easiest way to request a quote is to send an email to our team at Quotes@SilcoTek.com

Important information to include:

  • If you’re not an existing customer, account information is important so we can start the quote
    • Company name and address
    • Contact information - email address and phone number
  • A drawing or scaled photo of the parts
  • Desired coating type (if known)
  • Critical surfaces or handling requirements
  • Your application so we can be sure you’re getting the best coating
  • Quantity estimate

Getting your order right is at the center of our Plus1 customer service mantra. We want to be sure that your experience with SilcoTek is effortless. Our goal is to get your quote to you within 24 hours, though most quotes are provided the same day they are requested. The experienced and knowledgeable quotes team will get to work on your quote as soon as all the necessary information is provided. If you're not sure what coating would best fit your application, not to worry, our teams here can help you.

For new customers, it's easy to set up an account in our system. All we need is your company name, billing and shipping addresses, email address, and phone number to get started. Once we have your company set up in our system, we can easily build you a quote.

I took the time to ask our quotes team what helps them the most when quoting a new part, and they told me that customers sending a drawing or scaled photo of the parts helps them tremendously. Being able to see the part allows them to provide the most accurate quote (and avoid any surprises down the road).

If you know what coating type will best fit your application, please tell us! While we are the coating experts, you know your application better than we do. Likewise, if you don't know the best coating type for your application, give us a description of what environment your parts will be seeing so we can determine the best one for you. You can get a good idea of what coating you need by using our coating selector guide

Understanding any critical surfaces or complex geometries is crucial to our coating process. Critical surfaces can determine how your items are handled, cleaned, processed, and packaged.

If you are able to advise the quantity, we can pass along any quantity price breaks to you. If you're looking to save some money, submitting a larger quantity can significantly reduce the cost per item in some cases. If you're not sure how many you want to send, that's okay, too. We can share the price breaks for your items, where applicable, so you can get a good idea of how many you want to send.

About CVD Coatings: Service Pricing

The reason we ask for a drawing or scaled photo and quantity when quoting your order is because we price mostly on those criteria. A big part will cost more than a small fitting for example. The per piece price for a a higher volume order will be much less than a one-off single piece order. Because price varies with part size, it's hard to give a definitive price, but we can give you some examples of the price and value our coatings offer. In these examples, the estimated price is for a single part. There are substantial discounts for higher volume orders. We can also offer alternative pricing to help with supply chain management and overall coating value, like batch pricing or kanban support. Basically, call us and we'll work with you however we can.

Here are some examples of part pricing. These are just examples, so prices will vary depending on the factors noted above. In our examples, we compare the cost of a coated stainless steel component with a similar product made from stainless steel and a superalloy. Generally, our coated part costs more than an uncoated stainless part, but much less than the superalloy.

Optimize the order quantity to take advantage of quantity discounts and the price drops significantly to $102.00!  That's a 30% drop in the coating cost!

This may sound like you have to provide a lot of information, but in the end you'll see that it saves you (and SilcoTek) time! And time is money.
